This is Rubus odoratus or purple-flowered raspberry. It is indeed in the raspberry genus. The features you identified, the raspberry-like fruit and the palmate (maple shaped) leaves, are distinctive for this and one other species, R. parviflorus.
This plant is in the range of R. odoratus. Other indicators of R. odoratus are the red hairs on the backs of the flowers (kind of hard to see in these photos), and the leaf tips tending to taper to a fine point.
